Illinois Lions District 1-D

District Governor Ronald Fruit is from Kirkland, Illinois.

He has been a member of the Kirkland Lions club since 1993. He has served his club as newsletter editor, 1st, 2nd and third vice. He served as club president in 2008 earning 100% president.

Lion Ron has served on 1-D district cabinet since 2004 as Zone Chairperson, Leadership Chairperson, MERLOW Chairperson, 1st Vice-District Governor and now District Governor.

Our governor has a passion for camp lions, the Handicap fishing Derby at Shabbona and Fish and Fun Day. From a young age, he has been able to participate in these events with his service, service that started at age 8 before becoming a Lion.

Lion Ron comes from a family of Lions and is a third generation District Governor. Because of this, he stresses the importance of family in Lions. This is also why his wife Lion Nicole Fruit has joined him in his travels for service. Growing up, he was active in Lions events. This helped to instill a passion for service in his life.

His motto for the coming year will be "Let Your Passion Lead". I look forward to seeing the passion of all Lions as they step forward to lead their communities.
